Our program is beaming out on a gorgeous Friday night in Amsterdam from Café the Zen’s underground studios in the Oost with a program of music by the Creole Jazz Band, a musical salute to Dave Bartholomew by Fats Domino, Jewel King, Blanche Thomas, Berna Dean, Billy Tate, and Bobby Mitchell & the Toppers, an homage by the Moonglows to their fallen leader, Harvey Fuqua, with six of their masterpieces from the mid-1950s for Chance, Checker & Chess Records dedicated here to DJ Soul Lucille, and an extended look into the venerable Delta anthem called “Rollin’ & Tumblin’” interpreted by Muddy Waters, John Sinclair & His Blues Scholars, and Bob Dylan.
