Toke Time: James Brown Live At The Apollo

Toke Time is kicking off the New Year with a spectacular series of programs centered on the great artistic achievement of James Brown, including the presentation of James’s most outstanding 45 rpm single releases in chronological sequence as taken from the 11-volume set called The Singles. That starts next week, but we’re beginning the celebration with the supreme recording of James Brown in performance called Live at the Apollo, recorded in Harlem on October 24, 1962. The complete album contains three more tunes than we have time for here, but otherwise, here’s the Hardest Working Man in Show Business, Mr. Please Please Please himself, live on stage from beginning to end.
