City Slang: John Sinclair’s Music and Arts Festival

The 8th annual John Sinclair Music and Arts Festival takes place on April 20 at the Hastings Street Ballroom / Tangent Gallery, presented by Holice P. Wood. Doors at 3.30 p.m., and cover is $10.
According to the release, “Now in its 8th year, the John Sinclair Music & Art Festival has proven to be a must attend event. This year John will be in attendance as our MC. The Tangent Gallery will play host to a number of vendors, as well as a signature gathering seminar for the 2012 ballot initiative to legalize Marijuana in Michigan. peakers: Matt Abel, Dan Silano, and Rick Thompson.
Apparently, at 4.20 “there will be a smoke out outside observing 5 minutes of silence, and smoke to honor our fallen Ladies and G’s.”


The music will get underway at 6.45 with the Planet D Nonet taking the stage with John Sinclair. At 8.15, the Ras Kente’ Band will give us their brand of Rock & Reggae. At 9.30, the 4:20 Allstars perform, featuring Chris Codish keys, Joey Spina guitar, Bobby East guitar, James Simonson bass, Steve McCray drums, Keith Kaminski sax, and Dwight Adams trumpet.
There will be a photo exhibit by Leni Sinclair, and on-site doctors for “renewals”.
Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em.
