Episode 794 is coming from the John Sinclair Café in the Psychedelic Healing Shack in the north end of Detroit, where I’ve been beaming out on Mondays since the new year started, but tonight I’m going to jump the gun a couple of days to make this program from the scene of Robert Jr. Whitall’s art show opening in the Cafe today, with music from Mardi Gras reflecting the theme of this exhibition of some of his New Orleans paintings. So we’ve got recordings by Professor Longhair, the Neville Brothers, Cha Wa, Wild Tchoupitoulas, Wild Magnolias, Indians of the Nation, Big Chief Peppy & Troy Andrews, the Flaming Arrows, Chief Smiley Ricks, and Big Chief Monk Boudreaux with the Golden Eagles.
