For Larry Hayden, Goodbye

putting one in the sky for Larry Hayden, a long time friend of John Sinclair and a friend of mine since moving to Amsterdam. Larry helped co-found Radio Free Amsterdam and helped record, co-ordinate and generally vibe up hundreds of shows and events. Larry was also somebody who gave me lots of encouragement personally and lent his ear, like John...go create, write, record, play and share' he would say.

"Episode 520 emanates from the back room at Bo White’s Bar in Saginaw, Michigan where I’ve just finished a rousing set wit the TNT Blues Band and thinking about my 100-mile ride back to Detroit tonight with my daughter Sunny and my granddaughter Beyonce, who were good enough to accompany me up here. I’m mourning the loss of my dear friend and partner, Larry Hayden, co-founder of this radio show some nine years ago, who passed away in his sleep last week from a heart attack, so I dug out the recording of our first John Sinclair Radio Show at Coffeshop Amnesia on November 22, 2004 so we could listen to Larry’s voice and tune in to records by the Roland Kirk Quartet, Treme Brass Band, Simon Henneman, Archie Shepp, Walter Noons, Tommy Ridgley, the Wild Magnolias, Professor Longhair & Billy Gregory, and Thelonious Monk.
